CREST June '25 Highlights
CREST Hosts Two-Week Residential Summer School on Semiconductor Technologies
CREST successfully conducted a two-week Residential Summer School Program focused on nurturing young talent in semiconductor technologies. Students received hands-on training in advanced labs, including the Nanofabrication Clean Room, MEMS & Nanoelectronics Labs, and Printed Electronics Lab. Students had the opportunities to interact with experts from RMIT Australia, IIT Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, TUFTS University and BITS Pilani Hyderabad.
The program featured a visit to Micron Fab, Hyderabad, and interactive sessions with leading industry experts from Ansys, Cadence, Lam Research, Wipro, T-Works, Synopsys, AMD, Micron, and Silicon Labs. This unique initiative offered participants valuable exposure to cutting-edge innovations and real-world industry insights.

Talk by Invited Speaker
We had the privilege of hosting an engaging keynote session with Prof. Amitava Das, Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata. Prof. Das delivered a talk on Purpose-built Molecules and Molecular Assemblies for Recognition of Critical Molecules and Therapy, highlighting cutting-edge strategies in molecular design for targeted therapy, diagnostics, and smart sensing using photo- and stimuli-responsive materials.
XVIII Monthly Colloquia
We hosted Professor Krishnendu Chakrabarty, from Arizona State University , for our XVIII monthly colloquium. Prof. Chakrabarty shared insights on the Southwest Advanced Prototyping (SWAP) Hub, led by Arizona State University under the Department of Defense’s Microelectronics Commons program.
He discussed the Hub’s vision, structure, and technical strengths, along with five new prototyping projects launched in 2024. Prof. Chakrabarty also highlighted ASU’s leadership in fanout wafer-level packaging and his own research in chip/package co-design for advanced testing solutions.
Strategic MoU Signed with UST
BITS Pilani has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UST, establishing a strategic partnership to advance innovation, workforce development, and co-creation in the semiconductor ecosystem. This collaboration aims to strengthen research-industry synergy and accelerate technology-driven academic initiatives.
